I am a retired wildlife biologist and have a life-long interest in nature. As a visual artist I work in sculpture, mixed-media, and photography.

In my sculptural works I aim to create visually intriguing pieces by combining a variety of materials. I use found objects and store-bought materials to create permanent assemblages and temporary installations. I am particularly interested in transforming junked materials to give them a new lease on life. I also like to use multi-colour slate tiles, each with its own unique geological history, colours, pattern, texture, and surface "imperfections".

My works are usually stylized or abstract, frequently refer to nature, and occasionally contemplate the human condition. My larger works are usually designed for gardens or patios, where they are given special effects by hoarfrost, freezing rain and snow. My smaller works are more suitable for homes or offices.

My aim in my photographs is to record the visual beauty and poignancy that can be found in natural and man-made environments. I try to capture the essence of my subjects in novel or unexpected ways and I prefer to manipulate my images as little as possible.
